A Little Bit About Ourselves
Laurel Bicycle opened it's doors
in 1982 and has been a part of the community ever since. Providing the
quad-county area with quality bicycles, parts and service for over 25
years. The company began in a small store off Connecticut Ave. in
Northwest Washington, D. C. in the mid 1940's. The store was owned by Mr.
Green, and was called Green's Chevy Chase Bicycle. The three Sawtelle
brothers, Don, Roger, & Ed, worked at the store part-time while going
to high school and then college at the University of Maryland at College
Park. Roger and Don became partners and bought the store from Mr. Green
in the early 1950's. Roger continued to manage the bicycle business,
while Don and Ed pursued other careers and moved away from the
Washington, D.C. area. Things grew and Roger opened more locations which
expanded into the Greens Chevy Chase Bicycle Company.

The First
location was in Kensington, then Rockville, Chevy Chase, Clinton, Laurel,
Gaithersburg, and finally Riverdale. The recessions of the early 1990's forced
them to consolidate operations into just one location, Laurel Bicycle in
Laurel, Maryland. Throughout these many years our mission and focus has
remained constant; to provide all cyclists, not just the elite riders,
with quality merchandise that lasts at a good value with professional
and knowledgeable service.

The sales staff at Laurel Bicycle consists of: Glenn, Steve,
& Stan.
Glenn has been with the company for
over 35 years. He has
been a store manager, service manager, and sales manager over the years.

Bicycle, has been with the company for 30 years. Steve started working
at Rockville Bicycle. In addition to managing the Laurel store Steve

Bicycle for 20 years and currently works as part of the sales staff.
He began working in the warehouse and was involved in developing and

at the different locations. Stan continues to split his time between
helping with the office management of the store and working with
